Might explain why this bear was so chilled. The salmon canteen was open and there were loads of them wandering into the river nearby and picking them up for lunch. The people around us were all backing off and we were walking closer. Still, we survived.

As far as I know the bears, as well as the people, just wander back and forth in and our of America without anyone checking anything. Lets not forget, bears are well known killers.
